VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. -- Thanks to a $1,000 grant from Allstate, the American Red Cross in Nassau County will be able to provide free babysitting training to a number of Valley Stream Girl Scouts in November.

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. -- Aspiring Eagle Scout Nick DiVerde, of Boy Scout Troop 90 in Massapequa, recently donated 105 comfort kits to the American Red Cross in Nassau County. Filled with hygiene items like soap, toothbrushes and razors, the kits will be given to local victims of disasters like house fires.
