By admin @ 11:52 AM :: 777 Views :: 0 Comments :: Nassau County News, Press Releases

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Oct. 31, 2008 -- Fire damaged a Green Avenue home Oct. 30, and volunteers from the American Red Cross in Nassau County helped provide relief.

Three adults and two young children were displaced by the blaze. The Red Cross provided them with funds for food, clothing and temporary shelter in a nearby motel according to Linda Cohn, Red Cross volunteer. Relief totaled $2,290.

All Red Cross assistance is provided at no cost to those affected, thanks to the generosity of individuals who donate their time or money to the nonprofit. Since January, the Nassau Red Cross has provided nearly $127,000 worth of food, clothing and shelter to Nassau County residents during local disasters--mainly home fires.

To learn how you can help, visit the American Red Cross in Nassau County at 195 Willis Avenue in Mineola, online at www.nassauredcross.org or call (516) 747-3500.
