MINEOLA, N.Y., May 20, 2009 -- On July 26th, the Nassau Red Cross will host Youth Safety Day at its headquarters in Mineola.

There will be two separate sessions with each geared toward different ages. The cost is $15 per child.

The morning session, First Aid for Children, is open to children ages 6-8. Running from 9 a.m. to noon, it will introduce participants to the behaviors that can lead to injuries or illness, and how to respond to injuries.

In the afternoon, Basic Aid Training will be offered to children ages 8-10. From 1-4 p.m., youth will learn to identify and prevent potentially harmful situations; how to treat common injuries; and to respond in emergency situations.
