MINEOLA, N.Y., Oct. 22, 2009 -- The American Red Cross believes that the trick to having a fun Halloween is knowing how to remain safe. To help children learn about safety, the Nassau Red Cross will open its doors for a Halloween Safety Party, Friday, Oct. 30.
Children, ages 6-11, are invited to participate in the event which will include carnival style games and a haunted house. More importantly, they will learn what to do if a friend is choking; what to do if approached by a stranger; and other ways to remain safe while trick or treating.
Children are encouraged to wear costumes; however, they are to be non-violent with no weapons, nor full-face masks. Admission is $5 per child and attendees must register in advance. The party is from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
To learn more, visit the local chapter online at www.nassauredcross.org or call (516) 747-3500. The American Red Cross in Nassau County is located at 195 Willis Avenue in Mineola.
