MINEOLA, N.Y., Feb. 28, 2010 -- Thanks to a partnership with the Village of Freeport, the American Red Cross in Nassau County is now able to bring more of its lifesaving courses to the South Shore of Nassau County.

"We are extremely grateful to the village for opening its doors to us and affording us the opportunity to bring essential skills to more Long Islanders," said Matt Crimmins, director of Health and Safety for the Nassau Red Cross. "Though our Mineola offices are centrally located, and we are able to send instructors to locations throughout the county for individual classes, this new opportunity will undoubtedly benefit a great number of people who live in that area."

A number of classes will be offered to the public at the Freeport Recreation Center, including: First Aid; CPR/AED; and Babysitting. The center is conveniently located a half-mile west of the Meadowbrook Parkway at 130 E. Merrick Road.

Each year, over 75,000 residents learn lifesaving skills through the American Red Cross in Nassau County. Course schedules can be found online at www.nassauredcross.org or by calling (516) 747-3500.
